Starting is beautiful, intoxicating even. But beginnings can also be daunting, humble and messy. Maybe this is why it takes so much courage to take that very first step. Congratulations!

Congratulations on your decision to start to Learn Scripture By Heart - NOW.

You have just activated one of the most powerful forces in the universe: the power of STARTING!

It’s that giant leap into the unknown. It’s the attitude that says: “I WILL do this! I’m not exactly sure how, but I will learn as I go!”

What stops most of us from learning new skills? Mainly fear.

The fear of failing: we fear we could discover we are incapable.

The fear of crawling: being a beginner at any new skill can be terrifying.

The fear of comparison: what if we are not as good at it as other people?

The paralysis of analysis: the timing may not be ideal, our schedule is already full, our brain is on overload, we may not have the time or the discipline to follow through.

Fear has a voice. It makes excuses. It has objections. It hits the brakes, resisting our progress.

But again, congratulations! You have decided not to listen to that voice!

You have made the courageous decision to START NOW! You may not realize just how bold a step you have just taken.

This is the same courage President John F. Kennedy displayed in 1961 when he set the goal that the U.S. would put a man on the moon by the end of the decade.

Kennedy believed it was possible, though he didn’t know precisely how it would be done. No one did at the time. He set the goal and then put brilliant people to work figuring out how to make the dream a reality.

In the same way, in a crowded field of people so afraid to fail, they prefer not to try, you have just taken a huge step of faith by signing up to Learn Scripture By Heart.

Please be reassured: You are not going to have to learn this skill on your own!

This course will help you learn how to memorize Scripture in a week. It will save you a lot of time and wasted effort. You will still have to do some work. Unexpected distractions may challenge your commitment and resolve.

You may experience resistance too, because the enemy of your soul isn’t crazy about the idea of you filling your mind with God’s Word.

I think the idea that you could begin to look at life from God’s perspective actually terrifies the devil!

Please know people are praying for you, that the verses you hide in your heart will transform you from the inside, making you more like Jesus.

Because He is the reason we do this. And He is right there, on every page of Scripture.

I believe that as you set yourself to Learn Scripture By Heart, God Himself will be so near, in the unseen, helping you.

May He bless your efforts and help your elastic mind to grow! May you succeed beyond your wildest dreams as you Learn Scripture By Heart!

The letter to the Ephesians puts it this way:

Ephesians 3:20 MSG

God will achieve infinitely more than your greatest request, your most unbelievable dream, and exceed your wildest imagination! He will outdo them all, for His miraculous power constantly energizes you!

So let’s get to it!

Best regards,
